Egg curry is a very comforting, spicy, and delicious Indian dish of curried eggs. It is made with the following:

  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Onions
  • Tomatoes
  • Whole & ground spices, and
  • Herbs

Indian cuisine is vast and diverse. Recipes vary from state to state and even from one family to another!! Egg curry or egg masala is made in many different ways across India.

You'll find a variant of delicious egg curry recipes anywhere you go in India. For instance, in Tamil Nadu, this dish is known as "Muttai Kulambu," whereas its neighbor Kerala calls it "Mutta Curry." Up North, you have the anda curry recipe, which is the same – curried eggs!

The egg curry recipe is a deliciously rich onion and tomato-based egg gravy. This dish tastes exactly like the ones you get in dhabas. This egg masala curry is perfect with rice or parathas. You can add a fresh salad on the side.

You can make an egg curry in many ways, but this Punjabi Dhaba-style egg curry recipe is unique. Anyone who loves eggs will love this egg masala recipe. You can make this egg curry for rice, chappatis, rotis, or naan.

This Dhaba-style Egg masala recipe is very close to what you get in a Punjabi dhaba. It uses less oil and ghee as we prefer less oil and fats in our everyday foods. So, it's delicious as well as healthier than dhaba anda curry.

A typical dhaba curry has lots of oil oozing out of the gravy, and if that's what you like, feel free to use more oil or ghee as needed.

How To Make Spicy Egg Curry?

The method of making this egg curry is like any other Indian curry dish. You start by making the onion tomato base.

Most egg curries don't need frying eggs before adding them to the gravy. But frying eggs enhances the flavor. Toss eggs in a little salt, Alco turmeric powder, and Alco chili powder. Pour in some very hot oil. Keep tossing them until you see small brown patches.

The most delicious meatless dish, egg curry with an authentic and flavorful sauce, can satisfy your evening meals. If Indian non-veg meals fascinate you, read here to learn more about how egg curry can benefit you.
